Advent Season Celebrated at St Luke’s UMC
St Luke’s United Methodist Church celebrated Advent Sunday, December 1 through Sunday, December 22, 2019. Okatie, Bluffton, Sun City communities plus visitors to the area joined us to celebrate Advent Season.
The season of Advent, which comes from the Latin word adventus meaning “coming” or “visit,” began Sunday, December, 1, 2019 and ended Christmas Eve, December 24, 2019. Advent is the beginning of the liturgical year for Christians. During Advent, United Methodist prepared for, and anticipated, the coming of Christ.

Sunday, October 13 St Luke’s welcomed a guest speaker who shared a powerful message of faith.
We were blessed by Dr. Elizabeth Abell’s (DDS) special presentation based upon her journal: Honeymoon in Heaven– A testimony about the presence of God she found during her battle with breast cancer.

Epworth Children’s Home Annual Work Day Offering Sunday, September 8, 2019
Sunday, September 8, 2019, St Luke’s participated in the annual Work Day offering for Epworth Children’s Home. This tradition goes back when Methodists were challenged to “Give a Day’s Pay” to the children at Epworth.
While the emphasis has shifted, St Luke’s came together to provide spiritual, educational, emotional and physical support for Epworth children. As you consider what God is calling you to give to support St Luke’s ministry to children, remember Christ’s command to let the little children come to him. He embraces, welcomes, loves, and teaches them. Epworth is answering this call.
Any time you feel moved to give, your generous contribution enables transformation to happen for children who call Epworth home. Epworth does not receive apportionments from the United Methodist Conference. Offering is an opportunity to support this vital ministry.
