St Luke’s United Methodist Church, Bluffton, SC is a faithful steward in Bluffton Self Help with our monthly first Sunday collections of pantry items, which total approximately $6,000.00 annually. We also donate school supplies, diapers, and baby food. And, we respond to needs during the year with coats, jackets, blankets, fans, and shoes. During holidays, like Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, we supply special food items to meet needs.
We host an annual Lenten Service and serve a lite lunch afterwards that fills our Fellowship Hall. Donations are provided to support Operation Shoebox for Samaritan’s Purse, Epworth Children’s Home, and United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). As a support church for Family Promise, we provide dinner families are housed at Lord of Life Lutheran Church.
Male inmates at Allendale Prison receive quilting material and yarn from our church members, and are helped in their rehabilitation process by learning how to quilt and crochet.
Pritchardville Elementary students and their families receive Easter and Christmas meals from our members. We also provide students with snacks, clothes, and books.
Church members collect eyeglasses, pull tabs, ink cartridges, and Box Tops for Education to be recycled and reused by charities like Abused Women, the Ronald McDonald House, and local schools. Our Sunshine Ladies are a clearinghouse when members pass away or move. We find homes for anything from dishwashing liquid to freezers for needy families.
Each week the church Fellowship Hall building is used as meeting space for three AA meetings, one Al-Anon meeting, one Women’s Candlelight AA group, and a Girl Scout troop. Click here for meeting dates and times.
