Coronavirus (COVID-19) Concerns, Changes, and Faith

On behalf of St. Luke’s congregation, welcome to our website. We extend a warm greeting.

Due to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns, recent recommendations from Bishop L. Jonathan Holston, resident Bishop of South Carolina, to suspend in-person service gatherings through April, and gathering restrictions set by South Carolina Govenor Henry McMaster, Easter services will not be held Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church (UMC). This includes all meetings and office hours.

This does not mean Easter services are cancelled, just postponed. Our Easter service will be celebrated on the first Sunday we can gather at St. Luke’s for worship. That will truly be a day of celebration of Jesus Christ and a true celebration of life! I am looking forward to returning to our regular schedule of worship services and celebrating that day with you.

  • More Good News: Several United Methodist Churches in South Carolina provide live-stream of their services during this time. Visit the Conference website for a list of the churches.
  • We plan to resume regular in-person worship services at St. Luke’s Sunday, May 3, 2020, 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Please revisit this website for church information including possible changes to this schedule and plan.

During this impactful and challenging time for our church, community, state and nation I am available for prayer, consultation, or other needs:

  • Home: 843-707-7991
  • Mobile: 803-686-0794
  • E-mail: bpreveaux@umcsc.org

This is not a time to panic, but to pray. Pray for those infected, medical personnel, our local, state and federal leaders and for each other as we move through a time of uncertainty.

Continue seeking God’s presence until we are again united, AND know God is with us, remembering…

“Greater than the power that is holding you down is the power that lifts you up!”

Grace and peace,
Rev. Brian Preveaux
